Hey What's Up Hello.

I'm Joanie.

Most days you can find me working in my home studio, listening to podcasts, or reading rhyming books to my baby girls. I'm known for my laugh and messy hair, super last minute travels, and lack of t-shirts. I'm an early riser on Saturdays and a cuddler on Sundays. I'm a car camper, Teva hiker, city driver, ex-rodeo rider, lover of good stories, and a put-down-roots anywhere girl. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and try new stuff.

First and foremost, I take photographs. The kind you'll show your children as they grow up. You'll hang them on the walls of your first home, above the fold-out couch. You'll tuck them beside your bed. You'll store them on your laptop, your Instagram, Facebook, and send them in emails and Christmas cards. They'll be the online world's first introduction to you.

Photographs are an heirloom, a story, a five-hundredth of a second you'll hold in your hands. These are the kind of photos that burst with laughter and hope and spirit. The best adventures in our lives are often in the form of relationships. As powerful as trekking the world is, and I hope to do this for the rest of my life, I have found that we are surrounded with (and embody) stories that connect us to this world. Photographs are a way of sharing those stories beautifully and vividly.

In addition to camera work, I also write and occasionally teach. I am super lucky to work with passionate people through their commitment and marriage, growing families, and building businesses that connect their fellow humans.

I specialize in natural, lifestyle portraiture:

  • Weddings

  • Newlyweds

  • Engagements

  • Newborns

  • Families

  • High School Seniors

  • Lifestyle + Blog (Branding)

  • Products

  • Style

I'm also on the board of directors for a cancer support and abiding group ministry. Life is not easy or simple (as much as I'd love my Instagram to reflect this sometimes), but it's a really powerful tool. I'm always learning how to use and document this life well. Everyone has an intensely meaningful and complex story. Photographs are my personal way of communicating and honoring them.

When I'm not busy working on shoots, you can catch me:

So hey, if you're still interested, I'd absolutely love to work with you! Let's make something amazing.
